New Music Video! Yodel!
There’s a new album on the way! Yessss! As I work in a flurry of furious fun with my illustrious team including the characters listed below, I will bring you into the friendly fold with snippets like this one! Please subscribe to my YouTube channel and share the love to others if you feel so inclined!
Arlene and I went strolling on a bridge one day after a soft rain had fallen. We thought we’d do a wee promo video for the release of my song Yodel. Arlene followed me around with her trusty camera phone as we ran through the song twice. What resulted after some limited but crafty editing by Arlene was this whole music video. I think it accurately represents the fun we had on the bridge that day and the fun and frolic I wish upon you every day. Have the fun! Dare to live! Doesn’t it make ya wanna yodel? 🙂

YODEL Lyrics:
You can do magic
You pull wonderment out of thin air
You light up the night with the spark in your eye
I hear love songs that just ain’t there
Fallen angel
You’re not mine but you land in my hand
I erupt like a chorus on high
Please brace me when I can’t stand
CHORUS:
You make me wanna yodel
Yippeeyai Yippeekayay
Your touch is taking me higher
It’s like hump day every day (Hump hump hump hump hump hump)
I’m lost for words of expression
(Vocalizing like a speechless maniac)
You make me wanna yodel
Yippeeyai Yippeekayay
Revved up pressed up behind me
Your whisper rustles my hair
You kiss me like a drifter
With a reckless moment to spare
Nimble frenzy of thrills
Draw near, draw near, draw near
You crack me like a breakthrough
Making everything vaguely clear
[repeat CHORUS]
BRIDGE: (Improv)
Little old lady. little old lady, little old lady who
Diddlyeoo howdy doo
Little old lady who loves you
Bibbity bobbity boo
cuckoo cuckoo cuckoo
Buck buck buck buck
Nut n honey nut n honey nut n honey Good n plenty
A, E, I, O, U and sometimes Y
Thank you for watching!
LOVE KAT 🙂

People Profile: Me! Kat Leonard!
This is a special BS Fridays edition People Profiles! BS Fridays is a musical networking community where musical souls in the industry from artists, performers, businesses peeps and more get together to pool their resources and expand their support. On Friday August 12th you can come out to The Cameron House in Toronto and meet us and see some of us performing– including me!
So who am I? I’m a singing-songwriting comedian, a TV personality and motivational entertainer.  My new touring show Myselfie is a musical comedic approach to loving your body, promoting healthy body image and self-esteem and it is available for booking in schools and beyond with an accompanying interactive workshop. I am Artistic Director of Let’s Make Good Productions and WonderFest, the series of workshops and concerts spreading empowerment through art. I’m also a freelance voiceover artist, actress, journalist, live show host and frequent podcast guest and host to various events.
Here’s a good sample of my dance moves!
************************************
I interview myself…
(not the most-offensive thing I’ve done to myself for public consumption)
What is your career? Motivational Humourtainment. 🙂
Is it the same as your passion? It pretty much is. It combines my passions of laughter, music and dance along with empowering others with meaningful messaging and encouragement.
What are the greatest challenges and greatest rewards of your career?
The greatest challenges are fitting it all in in such a busy world. The greatest rewards are sharing the energy of a room with a group of people on a ride with you, making powerful connections you can physically feel that stay with you long after the point of contact.
What is your advice to others embarking on similar career? Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. And figure out how to do the business end of it too so you don’t have to do something else while you’re doing it.
What does it mean to be an artist? To trust and explore, to be open and to pay attention, assess and express.
5 years ago, did you expect to be where you are today? I knew I would be entertaining with music, comedy and dance but I did not know I’d be a body confidence advocate in the realm of motivational speaking.
Where will you be in 5 years? Doing what I do spending more time in LA and travelling across the country with my one-woman shows Myselfie and Katbaret!
What would you say to your 8-year-old self? You’re right! Do it!
What would you say to your 80-year-old self? Good for you for doing it!
How lucky are you and why? SO LUCKY! I really feel blessed with the intuition, insight and confidence I have that allows me to take risks, to not embarrass easily, to get on with it, to be open-minded and free, willing to experiment and not to shy away from fun and adventure. I am very thankful for my sense of humour and my empathic ability that allows me to understand, comfort and inspire others.
What would people be surprised to know about you? I have a degree in Science.
What makes you laugh? What is fun for you? Funny: Foibles and vulnerability, ridiculocity, spontaneity, clever jokes I don’t see coming. Arrested Development, Ricky Gervais, Flight of the Conchords, Louis CK, Frazier, Golden Girls. Fun: Dancing, eating pizza in bed, laughing, creating, Netflix, exploring.
What makes you question humanity? The common denominator getting lower and lower and lower and lower and lower.
What is your favourite quote? “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
What does being involved with the BS Friday’s group and community mean to you? It means being involved in a productive community that is committed and fluid. I can count on the group as a whole to offer advice, leads, good times, and I can count on being part of a lovely growing web of creatives that is never the same. It grows and evolves and keeps us on our toes.
How long have you been involved and what have you gotten out of it? I have been involved for about 4 years. Although I can’t make all of the meetings, when I do I always meet someone knew that I end up loving– not in a dirty way. I have gained industry tips and connections as well as performed alongside some fabulous performers. I’ve also made a good many friend! That’s a bright highlight!
What can people expect from the BS Friday’s networking and showcase event in August? Music! Laughs! Hugs! Maybe the best night of their life! Prolly shouldn’t miss it, just to be sure!

WonderFest Panel&Play May 1/16
Let’s Make Good Productions’ inaugural WonderFest Panel & Play happened last night at The Painted Lady in Toronto. And it was awesome! Who played along? These guys:
Tony Roost @OneFireMovement
Marc Anthony Sinagoga Insta/Twitter: @notmarcanthony
Signe Miranda Signe Miranda’s Veranda
Dagmar Morgan
Panelists speaking on following your dream and making it happen through DIY careers: Signe Miranda, Tony Roost, Dagmar Morgan, Marc Anthony Sinagoga; facilitator Kat Leonard. The panelists had some insights on the struggles and benefits of doing it yourself.
My takeaways:  It’s not really Do It Yourself. It’s really about finding a community of like-minded individuals who can help and encourage one another. The resources are out there and if your passion is strong enough, you will find a way. The panelists were open and inspiring, funny and endearing. I would love to tell you I could share it with you in our podcast. But as this Do It Yourselfer has learned… I need to delegate the technicals to a technophile. I effed the recording up by pressing one too many buttons. Usually I’m so good at pushing buttons. My deep apologies to all. The Panel & Play Podcast will be live and well very soon! Please stay tuned! In the meantime, please enjoy these still pictures as  a flavour slice of the evening that was… an evening of insights and laughter and community building. More than one strong connection of friendship and future collaboration was made tonight, and that’s what this is about. 🙂
Hosts Arlene Paculan and Kat Leonard. That’s us opening up the performance part of the night!  🙂 Then we performed Jockstrap.
Marc is a storytelling comic, which I LOVE! He is personable and likeable, funny and open, regaling us with stories from his life with just enough dirt!
Chris regaled us of a tale of shepherds and peaches… in the dirtiest of ways. With a sparkly giggle, writer and performer Chris takes it to the spicy side and you like it!
Producer Harrison Fine of Fine Productions is also a brilliant songwriter and performer. His acoustic bit was beautiful.
Signe; musician, author and coach– she exudes such a humble and enthusiastic light. You want to be her friend and have her serenade you with her lovely strumming and honest lyrics. Love.
Musician Linda Wallace is getting ready to pounce upon the world and she gave us such a wicked taste of what’s to come! Her voice is chilling and her musical storytelling a scene you feel a part of.
Slam Poet champion, writer and motivational entertainer Dagmar took us to emotional levels high and low with her poignant words and epic performance. Totally engaging you can’t take your attention away from her. I can’t wait to see more from her!
As always, Arlene Paculan soothes and invigorates us with her silky voice and unique musical expression. Arlene closed the show and topped off a glorious evening!
Stay tuned for more episodes of Panel & Play and the podcast (I swear I’ll make it work)!
