New Music Video! Yodel!
There’s a new album on the way! Yessss! As I work in a flurry of furious fun with my illustrious team including the characters listed below, I will bring you into the friendly fold with snippets like this one! Please subscribe to my YouTube channel and share the love to others if you feel so inclined!
Arlene and I went strolling on a bridge one day after a soft rain had fallen. We thought we’d do a wee promo video for the release of my song Yodel. Arlene followed me around with her trusty camera phone as we ran through the song twice. What resulted after some limited but crafty editing by Arlene was this whole music video. I think it accurately represents the fun we had on the bridge that day and the fun and frolic I wish upon you every day. Have the fun! Dare to live! Doesn’t it make ya wanna yodel? đ

YODEL Lyrics:
You can do magic
You pull wonderment out of thin air
You light up the night with the spark in your eye
I hear love songs that just ainât there
Fallen angel
Youâre not mine but you land in my hand
I erupt like a chorus on high
Please brace me when I canât stand
CHORUS:
You make me wanna yodel
Yippeeyai Yippeekayay
Your touch is taking me higher
Itâs like hump day every day (Hump hump hump hump hump hump)
Iâm lost for words of expression
(Vocalizing like a speechless maniac)
You make me wanna yodel
Yippeeyai Yippeekayay
Revved up pressed up behind me
Your whisper rustles my hair
You kiss me like a drifter
With a reckless moment to spare
Nimble frenzy of thrills
Draw near, draw near, draw near
You crack me like a breakthrough
Making everything vaguely clear
[repeat CHORUS]
BRIDGE: (Improv)
Little old lady. little old lady, little old lady who
Diddlyeoo howdy doo
Little old lady who loves you
Bibbity bobbity boo
cuckoo cuckoo cuckoo
Buck buck buck buck
Nut n honey nut n honey nut n honey Good n plenty
A, E, I, O, U and sometimes Y
Thank you for watching!
LOVE KAT đ

HUG YOU THERE!
The Responsible Casualty!
organized by  Dan Shaikh and Rina-Lee Rovinelli

The THEME was Body Beautiful, which is right up my alley with all the work I do with body image and self-esteem in Myselfie. The CATCH was that I had to prepare a 4-6 minute piece! What the wha?!?!? For anyone who’s ever tried to make a long story short, you’ll understand how incredibly challenging this was! I chose one story from Myselfie, the one about my heart murmur that leads up to my hit song My Innards. The HITCH was that I realized I like to cap off a story with my music. What do you mean I gotta end on the un-accompanied word? But when will I dance?!?!
4-6 minute piece just talking. Okay. I put myself on a mission to hone it in. That is something I’m often told to do in commercial auditions too: “Kat, can ya please hoooone it in?! Take it down a notch! Be more regular everyday.” But THIS IS my regular everyday! These facial expressions ARE subdued! And if less truly is more, then just imagine how much more more is! Maybe casting directors used to say that to Will Ferrell too.
So I crafted a story for Speaker Slam called The Responsible Casualty— which is really kinda what the story became, a  casualty of the process. I didn’t craft a story. I hacked away at an existing story in order to hone it in and take it down a notch and fit into a 4-6 minute piece for a Speaker Slam competition. My modus operandi was to keep it under 6 minutes. I lost sight of what “it” should be and focussed with the piercing eye of a hearty maritime fog. If I had it to do over again, I would honour the challenge and theme of Body Beautiful to create something brand new and with respectful intention for this event specifically.
I had so much fun at the event and I shared the stage with some pretty powerful speakers that I now consider friends. I was disqualified from the competition because I went over time. I know you’re shocked. You can watch my 6:15 minute long The Responsible Casualty video here!
And here are my new friends!

FANTASTIC SPECTACLE OF FEMALE FUN!
Saturday July 4th 2015
Kat and Helene onstage! TWICE THE FUN!
Get Your Mic On! I’m interviewed at Fine Productions!
Not every conversation Harrison Fine, Karl Machat and I have is appropriate for public consumption, but this one is.
We did this interview for Get Your Mic On, “the informative podcast hosted by you: recording artists and music industry leaders. Designed with an intention to educate, Get Your Mic On features a new guest co-host each episode.” This time it was me!
Who is Harrison Fine? Many wonderful things!
Personally, he is an upbeat and down-to-earth lover of life full of fun, a good friend always ready with a hug.
Professionally, he is a musician and sound engineer. Head to FineProductions.ca to find out more! This is what I hijacked from there…
[Torontoâs Harrison Fine of FINE Productions doesnât just usher you into the studio and produce you. He wants to know what makes you tick and why you create the music you do. The award-winning producer, engineer, mixer and songwriter wants to get personal. A recording artist himself â presently readying a new electronic solo project under the alias Opus Eyesâ Harrison is well-connected in the songwriter and indie music community, voted Best Producer in Toronto from NOW magazine. Within that world, he takes time to pick the right artists to produce, assessing their lyrics, arrangements and instrumentation. âI do a lot of pre-production,â he says. âIf you donât have good stuff to start, you canât get good songs in the end.â]
Who is Karl Machat? Also many wonderful things!
Personally, he is a quiet quick-witted genius, a good friend always ready for a hug.
Professionally, he is a musician and mastering engineer. Find out more at Mister’s Mastering House. I stole this from there…
[With over twenty years professional industry experience including quality assurance and duplication, his credits are on hundreds of albums and singles released in Canada, United States, and abroad. A musician himself, he knows and understands both the technical and creative worlds, and gives an empathetic ear to a musicianâs needs. An avid listener, with lots of patience, and just a plain passion for music, Karl has the knack for putting the artist and their music in just the right place.]
If you’re looking for original soundscaping or some engineering on your own original work, I highly recommend contacting these dudes. If you’re looking for some good company, I hope you meet these guys. If you’re looking to spend 25 minutes with the three of us but don’t feel like leaving your seat, plug in here and jib jab along with us! Harrison, Karl and Kat.
Enjoy your day, everybuddy, from us 3!
